We had a dry night for our Carols Round the Tree this Year and a record crowd of over 100 people turned out to sing carols, accompanied by The Co-operative Funeralcare Brass Band North West. This event, together with the Christmas Tree in the churchyard, is the PCC’s ‘Thank You’ to the village for all the support the church receives throughout the year.
The carol singing was in three parts, the first around the tree in the churchyard followed by mulled wine and mince pies. The second was inside church, followed by more mulled wine, mince pies, biscuits and savouries. The third started with a humorous reading followed by the last of the carols, a thank you to the band and great applause. An impromptu encore was added by the band, much to the crowds delight. We were delighted to welcome visitors from the Lake District, who told us they had thoroughly enjoyed the event, which they decided to attend after seeing it advertised on this website. We were also pleased to have the Youth Club join us for the carols inside church and know they particularly enjoyed their refreshments.
