Fantastic, amazing, moving, inspirational, magical, better than anything on tv, the true spirit of Christmas……..just some of the words and phrases used to describe the Carol Service at St. Bart’s, on Christmas Eve with ‘Sound and Light’.
The church was full to witness this traditional service of carols and readings, with the congregation watching the changing light show and listening to musical pieces that had some moved to tears. The church interior lights were dimmed or turned off, leaving only the Christmas decoration lights and candles, to set the scenes. Later, a canopy of stars appearing on the church ceiling had the children mesmerised and the star of Bethlehem made an appearance. Faye Hough lit the final candle of the Advent Crown in a simple moving act, accompanied by an ‘out of this world’ piece of music that left many with a tear in the eye. Thanks go to John Headon for putting the concept together, to “PJ” for being the technical engineer, to Kirsty Milligan for providing the sound equipment and to Barry Davies from Theatr Twm o’r Nant, Denbigh, for the loan of the lighting equipment.
Perhaps the best appraisal of the evening is courtesy of Canon Keith Ineson, who wrote ‘I’ve just got in from the service at Church Minshull. It made my Christmas for me. It was so well put together and it was a pleasure to sit back and take it all in. You must have been really pleased with the turn out and the way it all went’.
Thank you, Keith.
