The annual Pet Service at St Bart’s.
The day was deteriorating when we were preparing for the service in the church grounds, but we hoped for the best and a congregation of 40 turned up with their assorted pets. Audrey played the hymns on the electric organ and was ready to run if the heavens opened.
The Rev. Anne officiated and said prayers for all the animals that work for the benefit of mankind. This was followed by a request for all the owners to place a hand on their pet while Anne pronounced a blessing upon them. The service was followed by ample, freshly baked, refreshments and all was cleared away and locked up before the threatened heavy rain arrived.
