Tour of Britain stage 3 passes through Church Minshull.
On 6th September the Tour of Britain cycle race passed St Bart’s, where chairs were set out to welcome visitors to the village, providing a grandstand view. The crowd waited patiently until just after noon, when the first four leaders went through. A few minutes later the peloton followed, including Sir Bradley Wiggins, Mark Cavendish, Steve Cummings and Ian Stannard, in total 8 Olympic medal winners Approaching the village from Nantwich, they then crossed the Weaver Bridge on their way to Middlewich, Sandbach, Knutsford and Macclesfield. The whole village was on the streets to clap and wave, many receiving acknowledgement for their support.
Thanks go to Cheshire East Council for bringing the event to our area, The Badger for food on the go and to Sophie who snapped the 2 shots of Sir Bradley.
